meet the WIP: SWDOTM

intro:

this post is so exciting to make!! i’ve been working on this project since June and i’ve really fallen in love with it <3 it's pretty nerve-wracking to share so much information about my project with y'all, but here i am!

a few notes, before we begin:

• this is still a work in progress, so please don’t be too mean about it! it’s definitely not perfect and nowhere near being done.

general Information:

She Who Dreamt of the Moon (SWDOTM) is a young adult high fantasy and romance novel! the age range is around 14-18, and there aren't any NSFW scenes in it. i’ve been working with it since June 30th, 2022 (yes, I wrote that down) and started writing it on July 9th. at the time I'm writing this post, it stands at a little over 32,000 words!

the target word count for SWDOTM is around 70k words, with around 30 chapters. for a fantasy novel, that's a bit on the shorter side, but since this is my first project I've been committed to, i didn't want to push myself too much. my goal is to have this project finished by the end of 2022, but ideally before November, because I have a different project in mind for NaNoWriMo.

SWDOTM is set in a fictional world and is told through first person, present tense, with one POV. there's one chapter that is from a different POV, but that's at the end of the novel and I haven't written it yet.

summary:

Verity didn’t want to be queen.

Verity Esarosa had grown up a princess in the empire of Alkmene, surrounded by the waging war between Alkmene and Soliana Dynasty all her childhood. When her parents are murdered, she swears to end the war between the kingdoms, for better or for worse, and she concocts a plan to trick the royalty of Soliana into a marriage alliance, and then betray them and take control of both kingdoms.

She didn’t want to fall in love, either.

But secrets, lies, feelings and trust all get in the way of this plan, as the world around verity becomes more twisted and confusing than she ever could have imagined. on top of it all, someone within the palace is killing the people closest to Verity, seemingly making their way closer to the queen herself.

Verity was not prepared for this.

Now, she must learn to survive it all.

plans:

i don't really want to talk too much about the future of SWDOTM, purely because I feel like I'll jinx it if i share too much, but basically, i'd like to publish this book, and i'd love to publish traditionally.
